At Empowered Financial Strategies, we believe in building lasting relationships rooted in trust, understanding, and yes—sometimes tail wags. It’s our pleasure to introduce the newest member of our team: Hayden, an energetic and intelligent pup who recently joined us as an intern and emotional support specialist-in-training.
Hayden was adopted at just 8 weeks old from a loving rescue organization in New Jersey, and she’s already making her mark on our Newark, DE office. Her kennel is nestled right in our workspace, where she listens attentively (and sometimes naps through) client meetings, team discussions, and financial strategy sessions. She’s soaking it all in—and we’re convinced it’s only a matter of time before she starts offering Roth conversion suggestions or tax-efficient withdrawal strategies.
A Legacy of Loyal Leaders
Hayden’s arrival is bittersweet for our team. We tragically lost two very important members of our firm family last year—Gracie, our beloved Director of Client Engagement, and Frankie, who proudly led Security at our Newark office. Their impact continues to be felt in the warmth and heart of our culture. They reminded us daily that compassion, presence, and connection matter just as much as spreadsheets and retirement projections and that cookies are always a good thing.
Hayden carries forward their legacy with gusto and a lot of puppy energy. She’s a strong and curious young lady—quick to learn (already nailing “Sit” and “Down,” with “Shake” nearly mastered) and eager to engage with every client, courier, and co-worker who crosses her path. She’s even started pausing her play to watch financial commercials on TV—a clear sign she’s cut out for this industry.
A Canine Culture of Care
We like to say that our dogs are not just part of our team—they’re part of our philosophy. Just like we treat every client with the care of a family member, we treat our office pets as co-creators of a welcoming, grounded environment. It’s amazing what a wagging tail and puppy breath can do to calm nerves during a conversation about long-term care planning or estate strategies.
Hayden is also in good company—she joins our other four-legged teammate, Buddy, who helps keep the books in order (and the office cozy) from our Pennsylvania location. Buddy is Joanna’s pup and handles bookkeeping with a quiet dedication and occasional supervisory bark. Together, Hayden and Buddy form the canine backbone of our cross-state collaboration.
Stop By (Virtually) and Say Hello
While our team meets with clients virtually via Zoom, that hasn’t stopped Hayden from making an appearance! Her kennel is set up right next to our workstations, and she often tunes in to meetings—sometimes quietly observing, other times offering background commentary in the form of a playful bark or the occasional squeaky toy. Don’t be surprised if you spot her in the background or hear a curious sniff at just the right moment during a tax strategy conversation.
We’re excited for you to get to know Hayden and the rest of our team—both human and canine—as we continue to help you create empowered financial strategies for every stage of life. Stay tuned and follow Hayden’s story as Empowered Financial Strategies newest intern, to see what tasks she takes on and if she makes the cut to be a permanent member of the team and in what capacity.
Here’s to the next generation of financial wisdom—tail wags and all.
